چکیده

This paper discusses a new approach that will facilitate the use of simulation in the construction industry. Previous attempts in this regard have been hampered by the gap between the user and the simulation software, the power and flexibility of available tools, and the readiness of industry. A comprehensive new approach ~referred to as the Unified Modeling Methodology!, which addresses the complete needs of the construction simulationist, is detailed. It is based on several state-of-the-art concepts in addition to newly developed ones. This methodology also describes how all of these concepts can be combined together using object oriented principles. The methodology was used in the development of a complete simulation tool development and utilization environment called Simphony. Several case studies were performed to illustrate the advantages of the new approach. DOI: 10.1061/~ASCE!0733-9364~2002!128:2~1! Specifying Requirements in a Multi-Agent System with Use Cases

The software engineering of multi-agent systems demands specification of the required agent behaviours to provide documented requirements for the design and implementation phases. A methodology for the analysis and specification of agent behaviours is proposed, which arises from a lengthy experience in the construction of multi-agent simulations for military operations research. The methodology...

Transformation of UML Activity Diagrams into Analyzable Systems and Software Blueprints Construction

Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a standard language for software blueprints, UML can be used to visualize, specify, construct and document software-intensive system of heritage. In the UML, the activity diagrams often are widely used to workflow and system flow in system analysis. However, the activity diagram of UML now there are still many drawbacks to be overcome, such as lacks support fo...

Towards a Software Engineering Approach to Multi-Scale Modeling and Simulation

In this work we propose a development methodology aiming to bridge the gap between approaches used by (e)-science communities to develop their modeling frameworks, and model driven engineering approaches used to develop modeling frameworks with similar complexity. The proposed methodology relies on a sound integration of UML-MARTE, CSP-OZ, and PyCSP. We show, in this paper, how to exploit this ...

A Methodology for Unified Assessment of Physical and Geographical Dependencies of Wide Area Measurement Systems in Smart Grids

Wide Area Measurement Systems (WAMS) enable real time monitoring and control of smart grids by combining digital measurement devices, communication and control systems. As WAMS consist of various infrastructures, they imply complex dependencies among their underlying systems and components of different types, such as cyber, physical and geographical dependencies. Although several works exist in...

An iterative construction of multi-agent models to represent water supply and demand dynamics at the catchment level

Companion Modelling (ComMod) is an iterative approach of modelling in interaction with local stakeholders. KatAWARE is a multi-agent model constructed through a ComMod process with the Water User Association of the Kat River Valley, Eastern Cape, South Africa. By describing the construction of the KatAWARE model, the aim of this paper is to propose a detailed methodology to formalize and to sys...
